This picture is a rough draft of what my project will look like. This is what I am hoping the map that the kids make will look like. I am going to take each piece of furniture and cut it out so they can tape it to a big piece of paper. I will give each kid a piece of the map and see if they can all work together as a group to make a map of their classroom.
Here I am cutting out all the pieces for the map. I needed to have 25, 1 for each kid. The project should give them insite on what should go on a map verses what isnt importaint. Most of them got this but still after many people asked the same questions over, they still did not understand it. I finally got them to understand by explaining that it was from a birds-eye point of view and that things on the wall would not be able to go on the map because it would not show up.
This is the final draft of the kids map, they tried to arrange it so that none of the tables would overlap. I had each table come up and put thier pieces down so by the time the last table came to the rug, the entire map had almost been filled. there were a couple of things I had to go over at the end but over all it turned out really well.
Nice, Kim, will you include colors? Will it be digital?
ReplyDeletewhat are they learning with your project??

ReplyDelete@shannon this ties into thier social studies unit about maps. they are basically learned about maps, how to draw them and how to read them.
